2K Sports NHL 2K11 for iPhone

Ready for 2K Sports NHL 2K11?  I’m a hockey fan and have been longing for a great hockey app that’s as fun to play as Madden football…but on ice. 2K Sports has delivered with a fantastic NHL 2K11 app. With easy game play following the Madden lead for thumb controls and season play preferences NHL 2K11 is worth a few bucks and will have you fighting your way to the Stanley Cup with monster hits and all the players you’d expect. If you’re lucky you may even have a healthy Sidney Crosby.

The score and game clock are steady at the upper left of the screen and don’t get in the way of gameplay. The occasional frustration is your fingers getting in the way of a fast break shot but other than that the gameplay is wonderful and the sliding, stopping and skating are all pretty close to any other game console. You have all the freedom you need in the game settings section to adjust offsides, penalty levels and period time and even the run for a Stanley Cup is as hard as you’d like with the standard NHL 2K options for Rookie, Intermediate and All Star levels of play.

I fought hard as the Pittsburgh Penguins (Mario Lemieux converted me back in the good old days) and am happy to report that Sidney Crosby helped me take my team to a Stanley Cup.  It felt good but was a little disappointing because the actual celebration which has become a favorite part of the other 2K NHL games was lacking.  If I had one suggestion for 2K Sports NHL 2K12 it would be to make hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup a bigger deal.  With that in mind, NHL 2K11 for the iphone is fantastic and worth every penny.
