Simpsons Arcade App for iPhone Review
T
he Simpsons Arcade app is a new beat-em-up game released by EA for the iPhone and iTouch. It’s pretty close to the classic Simpsons game in regards to the style, controls and game play but there are some variations in regards to other aspects of the game. The Simpsons arcade app is obviously played with the use of a joystick and two buttons that are set up like most of the other EA games. The joystick is to move the character while the buttons enable attacks, jumps or even do the coveted combo attack.
Characters
Here’s one frustration with the Simpsons app, Homer is the only character you can use. The other characters like Bart, Lisa and Marge are still part of the game but they only serve as power-ups for Homer and can’t be used as the main character for play. You can also enjoy the Simpsons Arcade music or play to your own tunes via the settings tab.
The color, animation and graphics are pretty true to Simpsons Arcade form and some credit should go to the EA folks for keeping it authentic (kind of). The Simpsons Arcade app only allows single player gaming and does not support multiplayer at all. There are some good mini games though so it’s all ok.
In a nutshell, the story revolves around Homer’s retrieval of the donut that holds a USB drive, containing a “Project: Operation Mission” scheme, has been implanted. The game has six stages to complete: Downtown Springfield, Springfield Mall, Channel 6 Studios, Krustyland, GOP Headquarters, and lastly, the Burns’ Mansion. Try Simpsons Arcade for Free
