SkeeBall iPhone App Review

Skee-Ball is a game loved by everyone that’s had a birthday because wherever you go from children’s gaming paradises to Chuck-E-Cheese you’ll find the Skee-Ball machines and those wonderful tickets.  The SkeeBall app for the iPhone and ipod Touch is so close to the real thing it’s scary.  From the klink, klink sounds to the bonus tickets and prizes, app developer FreeVerse has nailed it!

Priced at .99 it’s also one of those no-brainer apps that gets used over and over because of the simplicity and the addictive nature of Skee-Ball itself.  Some of the fun aspects of the Skee-Ball app include the bonus points when one of the bins is glowing and hitting the store when you’ve accrued enough points to go buy stuff.  Over time you can also start switching the types of SkeeBalls you use by going to the Prize Heap and picking which newly acquired ball you’d like to start using.

The game itself is very easy to play. Simply slide your finger bottom to top, faster to throw the ball harder and softer to throw it lighter.  You can angle the phone to add spin or slide your finger to the top left or right to hit those high point top corner bins.  The last throw is a slow-motion closeup shot that helps get you excited.  A word of warning is that the play again button is so easy to tap that hours can pass almost instantly….it’s scary.

The prize store is hilarious.  From new Skee-Balls to dracula fangs to sparkly pens to office chairs you can buy almost anything at the prize store and you save them in your Loot case.  A simple push of the button allows you to check out your loot anytime you get the urge. Your points are also stored and compared to thousands of other users to see your global ranking and lifetime net worth which is the other thing that keeps you coming back…bragging rights.
